There are a variety of reasons why someone might want to quit the Canadian Army. Perhaps they don’t agree with the mission or no longer feel strongly about the cause.It could be that the individual is homesick or finding it difficult to cope with the physical and emotional demands of the job. Whatever the reason, quitting the Canadian Army is a decision that should not be taken lightly. There are a number of things to consider before making such a decision, such as the impact it will have on your career, your financial stability, and your family.<\/p>\n

When you enlisted in the Army, you made a commitment to serve for a specific term of service. However, you may be released from your contract under certain conditions before your term is up. To leave the Army before your term is up, you must submit a request to be released, called a release application. You can find the release application and more information on the release process on the Army website.<\/p>\n

How long do you have to stay in the Canadian army? <\/h2>\n

The time you spend in the Regular Force can range from three to nine years, depending on the job you choose. If you enrol through a paid education program, your length of service will be longer. Please speak with a recruiter for details specific to your situation.<\/p>\n

All reservists who voluntarily request a release must complete the Res F – Application for Voluntary Release\/Transfer. This form is to be submitted a recommended 6 months before, but no later than 30 days. This form allows you to set the date of release.<\/p>\n
