The United States Army is the largest and oldest military service of the United States of America, and its origin dates back to the Continental Army which was formed to fight the American Revolutionary War (1775–83). From its early beginnings, the United States Army has played a vital role in the country’s history, winning countless battles and wars, and providing defense and security for the nation and its citizens. Today, the United States Army is the largest army in the world, with over 1.3 million soldiers.<\/p>\n
